On April 14, RCA hosted the first of two Fellows Shows scheduled for 2026, bringing together retina fellows, physicians, and clinical leaders from across North America for an evening of education, collaboration, and friendly competition.
The RCA Fellows Show is a competitive case presentation event open to retina fellows throughout the United States and Canada. Participants submit abstracts featuring unique, challenging, or educational clinical cases, which are reviewed by a panel of RCA physician judges.
This year’s judging panel included Dr. Andrew Clark of California Retina Consultants, Dr. Blake Fortes of Retina Group of Florida, and Dr. Cindy McClard of Retina Consultants of Minnesota.
After reviewing numerous submissions, five finalists were selected to present their cases live:
- Osama Ahmed, Retina Group of Washington
- Caroline Awh, Massachusetts Eye and Ear
- Christopher Chung, University of Illinois
- Sahal Saleh, Retina Consultants of Minnesota
- Sidra Zafar, Wills Eye
Following the presentations, the judges selected Dr. Sidra Zafar (Wills Eye) as the first-place winner, Dr. Christopher Chung (University of Illinois) as the second-place winner, and Dr. Caroline Awh (Massachusetts Eye and Ear) as the third-place winner.
The event drew more than 175 registered RCA physicians, underscoring the network’s commitment to education, mentorship, and advancing the next generation of retina specialists. Through programs like the Fellows Show, RCA continues to create opportunities for fellows and practicing physicians to learn from one another, share clinical insights, and strengthen connections across the retina community.
The next RCA Fellows Show is scheduled for September 8, 2026.
