The past few months have been busy for physician recruitment, with RCA well represented at several key events across the country. From fellow-focused educational programs to national and international retina meetings, these gatherings provided valuable opportunities to connect with current and future retina specialists, share the RCA story, and continue building relationships across the field.

Duke fAVS Course | Durham, North Carolina

RCA was honored to serve as a platinum sponsor and exhibitor at the 12th Annual Duke Fellows Advanced Vitreous Surgery (fAVS) Course on March 27-28. This premier educational event welcomes first-year retina fellows from across the United States and internationally, creating a unique opportunity to engage with the next generation of retina specialists.

Representing RCA, Dr. Stephen Hypes of Palmetto Retina joined Shawn Harkey and Janet Frongillo in connecting with fellows, many of whom are actively interviewing with RCA partner practices. Dr. Hypes also delivered a well-received presentation sharing his journey from new associate physician in private practice to managing partner and fellowship program director, highlighting the opportunities for professional growth and leadership available within the RCA network.

Pacific Club Retina Symposium | Los Angeles, California

RCA was proud to sponsor the 12th Annual Pacific Club Retina Symposium, held May 14-16 at UCLA. More than 50 retina fellows and residents attended the meeting, which featured a wide range of educational presentations and case discussions from leaders across the specialty.

Several RCA physicians contributed to the program, including Dr. David Boyer, Dr. Hadi Tabandeh, Dr. Ankur Gupta, and Dr. Kent Small, who presented on a diverse spectrum of clinical cases and emerging topics in retina care. The event provided another valuable opportunity to engage with trainees and strengthen RCA’s presence within the academic retina community.

Retina World Congress | Miami, Florida

RCA was proud to exhibit at Retina World Congress, held May 14-17. Focused on redefining innovation and impact on a global scale, the meeting brought together retina specialists from around the world for several days of education, collaboration, and scientific exchange.

RCA physicians were well represented throughout the program as presenters, moderators, and panelists. Participating physicians included Drs. Kourous Rezaei and Vivek Chaturvedi of Illinois Retina Associates, Drs. Dilsher Dhoot and Dante Pieramici of California Retina Consultants, Dr. Matthew Cunningham of Florida Retina Institute, and Dr. Phil Ferrone of Vitreoretinal Consultants of New York.

Kiawah Eye & Retina | Kiawah Island, South Carolina

RCA also participated in Kiawah Eye & Retina, held May 28-30 in South Carolina. Against the backdrop of the South Carolina coast, the meeting brought together retina specialists for expert-led educational sessions, clinical discussions, and networking opportunities.

RCA physicians played an active role in the program. Dr. Effie Rahman of Retina Consultants of Texas presented a case series examining the use of oral methotrexate to prevent proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR), while Drs. Virgil Alfaro and Jeffrey Brown of Retina Consultants of South Carolina participated in panel discussions focused on diabetic retinopathy, diabetic macular edema, and retinal vascular disease.

YoungMD Connect Live | Austin, Texas

RCA was proud to be a first-time sponsor for the YoungMD Connect meeting, specifically for their 2 scholarship awards for retina trainees, held annually in Austin this past May. It was a wonderful forum with over 100 medical students, residents, and fellows receiving firsthand advice and mentorship from both Dr. Carson Petrash from Retina Consultants of Texas at San Antonio and Dr. Naomi Hasegawa at Austin Retina Associates.
